Big City with Little Baby

Hello and welcome to the first blog of little momma in a big city! Let me introduce myself..I am a little momma with a little baby girl in the big city of San Francisco. My baby is 42 days old today and it already feels like she has been here forever! I live with my husband and baby girl in a studio in the heart of the city. That's right. Not a giant art studio warehouse. A tiny little one room, tiny kitchen, and a bathroom. Sometimes I feel like we should be a reality TV show. Especially when my mom was here for 2 weeks after sweet baby girl was born. My mother was literally 3 feet from my our bed every night. My husband definitely won major points that will go toward something nice when I finally feel like doing something nice for someone else that is not screaming and crying 24/7..which I hear may not be for a long while.

So, today I got my first haircut in a very long time at a cute little place called Posh close to our home. My husband got me a gift certificate there for my birthday and it was a good thing because I have never paid $75 for basically a trim until today. It felt good.

In case you were wondering how all 3 of us fit in this tiny place, I will give you the low down. My husband and I sleep in our bed in the middle of the room. My husband picked out the bed before I moved out here and it is a queen size with a little over a foot added to every direction of wood bench. It's a cool looking bed, just unfortunate for our tiny room. Then we have a chaise lounge that sits by our 4 bay windows. Also, we have a 9 foot tree and about 5 decent sized plants. The baby currently sleeps in the closet in a little pack and play bassinet.

I think its super cute and it has storage, a changing table, and the bassinet part. So far I like it. My husband has arranged all of our clothes, the crib, baby clothes and paraphernalia all in our not full size walk in closet. We use this hook hanger system for our clothes so that we can basically hang 5 shirts in the space where one used to be. I feel like a professional organizer because everything in this place has to have a strategic place or it looks like we live in a landfill.

Oh, and we live on the fourth floor. Which means three flights of stairs everyday and there is no elevator. It is fabulous to say the least. Imagine all the unintended and unwanted exercise I get doing laundry! I was also privileged to experience this workout today as I washed all the little baby girl clothes with baby poo or baby throw up all over them as well as a load of mine and my husband's clothes with the same stains.

I really love being a mom. I love it so much. I had heard that babies get projectile vomit and well I don't know if I really understood it or thought about how it might impact someone's life. Little did I know that I would have a sweet little dear with this terrible malfunction. She is colicky too. If you believe in that. If you don't believe in colic, you are more more than welcome to babysit my darling and diagnose her with whatever you see fit. I don't really know what colic truly is, I only know that my baby cries most of her waking hours after eating. Which is most of the time. So about the projectile vomit, it happens about once a day on average. We have had days with no projectile, only vomit. And we have had days with 3 projectile vomit episodes. Here is a scenario from earlier this week to give you an unpleasant visual....

I have to go to move my car by 11:00AM on the street because of street cleaning. So I start getting little dear ready at about 10:00AM. I first change her diaper. Then I nurse her. Then she cries and cries and cries. Then I change her diaper again after a major blowout. Then she throws up and then she cries and cries because her little tummy is empty. So, I see if she wants to nurse. She does and drinks and drinks until she passes out. So I burp her and put her in her carseat. She cries a little and I pick up the mess from changing her clothes and diaper a few times. Then I hear her making a noise so I turn and watch what looks like a gallon of milk shoot out like a waterfall out of my little dear's mouth, over the edge of the carseat about a foot and land on the floor. It also soaked her, the car seat, and her little 'bundleme' carseat baby cover.

Geez, I hate to end my first blog entry on throw up but my little one is now sleeping thanks to my dear husband and I think I should follow suit as sleeping has been hard to come by these last 5 weeks.

Peace out.
