a BIG tiny toothless laugh
Hola!
Geez, it has been over a month since my last post. Needless to say, things have been a little hectic. The good news is that I feel like I have a little bit of a grip on the new job and my sweet adorable little muffin makes every day so much brighter. She is such a joy! Every morning we wake up to her little voice talking in her crib and we take her out, bring her in bed with us, and smile and talk to her while she tries her very 3 1/2 month old best to tell us about her exciting baby dreams. The smiles are just so fun and yesterday she LAUGHED. I have been waiting and waiting and I knew it would be soon... There is nothing better than a little baby laughing for the first time. It was so adorable. I was kissing her and tickling her and she was trying so hard to laugh. At first it was a little cough-like sound and then came this cute scratchy little laugh. I was able to make her do it again for her daddy who was unfortutely taking a shower at the exact moment. I love my baby girl.

My new friend BOB
I finally caved in and bought a real stroller. No more snap and go. That thing can snap and go away for all I care now! I just got a Bob Revolution after way too many hours researching strollers. And it looks like every review I read that said that it is amazing is correct. The stroller is amazing. I love it. The front wheel can swivel for a small store or lock for run down a hill in San Francisco. The only issue is, well, it's heavy and I have to carry it up these stairs. But I did it one time sooo I guess I will just have to get stronger. I took it out yesterday and went over bumps, down hills, in a small aisle in a grocery store. Yipee! Oh and I got a new part-time job. :)

Miles of smiles
I love being a mom! She has been smiling and smiling lately and it's so wonderful! We just found out the best news. Our baby is named after her great-great grandmother and we just found out today! She has a very unique name so its even more exciting. Her name and her middle name together almost match perfectly her great great grandparents namesake.

Baby Reflux

Fun in San Francisco
Well, we now have a 2 month old little baby. My how time flies. I remember when I was a kid and relatives that had not seen me in a while would say "Wow you are so big!" I thought it was a big lie that all grown ups say. Now, as a parent I pay closer attention to my friend's kids, and my relative's kids and I find myself saying this exact phrase "you are so big" to their kids. I hope that it doesn't damage them in some way. It's really just amazing how fast kids grow! Speaking of, I hope my little angel grows out of this acid reflux. I hate watching such a little person gag and cough like this. At least I think it's acid reflux. I will find out in approximately 3 and a half hours when we go to the pediatrician.
Yesterday was such a gorgeous day here in the city and we went to this fun place in Golden Gate Park called the Park Chalet. http://www.beachchalet.com/I guess on Sundays from 2:00-5:00 they have live music. We were there with some friends listening to the music, eating corn on the cob and burgers from the restaurant on our blanket, people watching, and drinking delicious wine from our friend's bag. It was such a gorgeous day and we were parked across the street at Ocean beach and then just walked across the Great Highway and viola! we were there having a ball. There were also a lot of kids there and pregnant women, which is refreshing to see in this city full of single people with dogs.
For the last 6 months I have researched strollers. Alot. And now I am a serious stroller snob without a stroller. Since we live on the 4th floor, I keep putting this purchase off. Especially because our building is lacking an elevator. I want a Phil and Ted's because we may have another baby in the near future and you can convert it to a nice double. Also, I want a Bob Revolution for jogging. And I want a Maclaren Techno XT for baby to toddler quick trips. I think I will end up with none of them as right now I am way to weak to carry them up these stairs.
I just want to thank Safeway for delivering groceries. Thank you Safeway. The few times my baby and I have gone grocery shopping have been major adventures. This is mainly due to the fact that we have to park our car on the street. So I go to the grocery store, get the groceries with the infant, and then stop in front of our building and drop off the bags in the lobby and hope no one steals my milk. Then we look for a parking spot, sometimes we end up as much as 6 blocks away and it takes a while to find a spot. (By 'a while' I mean one time I looked for 45 minutes, then I drove to a grocery store, bought a snack and looked again for another 30 before finding one.) Now I am better and know tricks and all the good places. Anyway, then we walk back to the apartment. I walk up the 4 flights with sweet baby and put her in her crib and run the flights of stairs up and down until I get all my groceries. It is close to the only working out I get though so I appreciate it for that. Ironically, when I buy my groceries at the store I risk someone stealing my milk and when I order them online I risk what happened to me this time, the delivery man forgetting my milk. Oh well. It really only was sad for my husband. I actually am off dairy right now because I am trying to see if it helps baby's tummy. I read that it is estimated 40%+ of colicky babies have dairy issues. But it takes 2-3 weeks for the milk protein to leave your system. It has been 2 weeks today. So far its hard to tell.
Until next time,

Big City with Little Baby
Hello and welcome to the first blog of little momma in a big city! Let me introduce myself..I am a little momma with a little baby girl in the big city of San Francisco. My baby is 42 days old today and it already feels like she has been here forever! I live with my husband and baby girl in a studio in the heart of the city. That's right. Not a giant art studio warehouse. A tiny little one room, tiny kitchen, and a bathroom. Sometimes I feel like we should be a reality TV show. Especially when my mom was here for 2 weeks after sweet baby girl was born. My mother was literally 3 feet from my our bed every night. My husband definitely won major points that will go toward something nice when I finally feel like doing something nice for someone else that is not screaming and crying 24/7..which I hear may not be for a long while.
So, today I got my first haircut in a very long time at a cute little place called Posh close to our home. My husband got me a gift certificate there for my birthday and it was a good thing because I have never paid $75 for basically a trim until today. It felt good.
In case you were wondering how all 3 of us fit in this tiny place, I will give you the low down. My husband and I sleep in our bed in the middle of the room. My husband picked out the bed before I moved out here and it is a queen size with a little over a foot added to every direction of wood bench. It's a cool looking bed, just unfortunate for our tiny room. Then we have a chaise lounge that sits by our 4 bay windows. Also, we have a 9 foot tree and about 5 decent sized plants. The baby currently sleeps in the closet in a little pack and play bassinet.

I think its super cute and it has storage, a changing table, and the bassinet part. So far I like it. My husband has arranged all of our clothes, the crib, baby clothes and paraphernalia all in our not full size walk in closet. We use this hook hanger system for our clothes so that we can basically hang 5 shirts in the space where one used to be. I feel like a professional organizer because everything in this place has to have a strategic place or it looks like we live in a landfill.
Oh, and we live on the fourth floor. Which means three flights of stairs everyday and there is no elevator. It is fabulous to say the least. Imagine all the unintended and unwanted exercise I get doing laundry! I was also privileged to experience this workout today as I washed all the little baby girl clothes with baby poo or baby throw up all over them as well as a load of mine and my husband's clothes with the same stains.
I really love being a mom. I love it so much. I had heard that babies get projectile vomit and well I don't know if I really understood it or thought about how it might impact someone's life. Little did I know that I would have a sweet little dear with this terrible malfunction. She is colicky too. If you believe in that. If you don't believe in colic, you are more more than welcome to babysit my darling and diagnose her with whatever you see fit. I don't really know what colic truly is, I only know that my baby cries most of her waking hours after eating. Which is most of the time. So about the projectile vomit, it happens about once a day on average. We have had days with no projectile, only vomit. And we have had days with 3 projectile vomit episodes. Here is a scenario from earlier this week to give you an unpleasant visual....
I have to go to move my car by 11:00AM on the street because of street cleaning. So I start getting little dear ready at about 10:00AM. I first change her diaper. Then I nurse her. Then she cries and cries and cries. Then I change her diaper again after a major blowout. Then she throws up and then she cries and cries because her little tummy is empty. So, I see if she wants to nurse. She does and drinks and drinks until she passes out. So I burp her and put her in her carseat. She cries a little and I pick up the mess from changing her clothes and diaper a few times. Then I hear her making a noise so I turn and watch what looks like a gallon of milk shoot out like a waterfall out of my little dear's mouth, over the edge of the carseat about a foot and land on the floor. It also soaked her, the car seat, and her little 'bundleme' carseat baby cover.
Geez, I hate to end my first blog entry on throw up but my little one is now sleeping thanks to my dear husband and I think I should follow suit as sleeping has been hard to come by these last 5 weeks.
Peace out.
